Physical and chemical properties of Chloroform: colorless, transparent and volatile liquid with a special sweet smell, toxic vapor and strong anesthetic effect.

Boiling point: 61.3℃; Melting point: -63.2℃, Flash point: above 1000℃, slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether and benzene.
Chloroform will undergo a hydrolysis reaction with water, and commercial chloroform contains stabilizers to prevent decomposition. Chloroform is not flammable, but it will release phosgene when burned in contact with flame.
Application of Chloroform:
Chloroform is used to prepare difluorochloromethane HCFC-22 (Freon F22);
Chloroform is used in pharmaceutical triethyl orthoformate and pharmaceutical intermediates;
Chloroform also used as solvent;
Chloroform is used for synthetic dyes, spice raw materials and synthetic fine chemical products.
Packaging, storage and transportation:Chloroform is sealed and packaged in galvanized iron drums or tankers.
Chloroform should be stored in a dry and cool place, and the warehouse should have ventilation facilities to avoid contact with moisture and prevent hydrolysis.
